Runyon canyon has been the top hiking trail for as many years as you can possibly think of, Why? It is located off the 101 freeway in the Hollywood Hills, the length of the hike is about 3 to 4 miles long and usually takes about 1 to 3 hours long. The hike is open at 6am and closes at 6 pm.
The Wisdom Tree trail is one of the top hiking trails because it is a beautiful trail which leads to a tree known as the “wisdom tree” or the “tree of life.” The tree is becoming a Los Angeles landmark that you will not want to miss. This hike takes you through a beautiful scenery of Hollywood Hills and the Hollywood sign. This hike is about 4.2 miles long, off the 101 freeway close to Universal City, by Lake Hollywood Park. It is open 24 hours Monday through Sunday.
The third choice of a hiking trail for you would be the Glendale Peak Trail Head. This hike is about 3.3 miles in length as a round trip and has a beautiful view of Los Angeles, Downtown Los Angeles, and surrounding areas. It is off the 5 Freeway or the 101 Freeway at Griffith Park. This hiking trail has parts which are very secluded and it also has areas that are very trafficked, but either way make sure you take a camera and plenty of water to do the hike.
Second to last, the Fryman Canyon Park trail is also a very famous trail due to the many different celebrities who visit here to hike themselves and to workout. Besides the challenging hike itself, it offers amazing scenery and it is a dog friendly hike. One of the perks of hiking this trail or visiting this trail is the experience you will have in the Nancy Hoover Pohl Overlook, which give you a view of the surrounding areas. It is located in Studio City near the Hollywood Hills.
The Escondido Canyon Trail is an amazing experience that you will never forget, It is located in Malibu, California. This trails is 3.8 miles long, halfway through you will encounter a beautiful waterfall which is unusual in the surrounding canyon trails. It is also near the Solstice Canyon and Malibu Beach.
