Skin Care Routine for Oily and Acne Prone Skin

If you suffer from oily skin or frequent blemishes then consider trying these products to help give you a more radiant appearance. Having clear skin can make a big difference with your overall appearance. If you are a woman on the go that has no time to cover up blemishes with make-up, then these 3 tips can help change your complexion.

  1. Having a good face mask can make a big difference!
  2. The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask has high ratings and almost 19,000 reviews on Amazon. This mask acts as a vacuum for your pores, it provides deep pore cleaning with 100% natural calcium bentonite clay. The clay comes in a powdered form and is meant to be mixed with water and apple cider vinegar, which activates the mask. It’s recommended to be used once a week and left on the face for up to 5-20 minutes to improve your overall skin appearance.

  3. Not every moisturizer is the same!
  4. The best types of moisturizers for oily/ acne prone skin are ones that are gel, oil-free, or water-based. They are more lightweight while still giving you moisture but not giving you breakouts. A few ingredients that help against any existing breakouts and prevents any future ones are salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide.

  5. Acne fighting make up exists!
  6. Makeup sits on the surface of the skin for hours at a time, so it is important to use makeup specially formulated to help prevent skin irritation and cover up blemishes. When buying makeup, you should be looking for products that are oil-free and non-comedogenic, as advised by the American Academy of Dermatology to avoid clogged pores. Some of these products are formulated with salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid, minerals, and sulfur which help minimize those stubborn blemishes and skin irritation.

Products specially formulated for oily /acne prone skin

This Neutrogena foundation gives you lightweight coverage and has salicylic acid so it won’t clog your pores.

Shiseido Oil-Free Bronzer won’t clog your pores and will leave you with an airbrushed finish.

Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12- Hour Blush has no parabens, phthalates, or sodium lauryl sulfate. It is formulated with Amazonian clay, mineral pigment, and vitamin E, which helps boost moisture and controls oil.

Having regular skin maintenance is important in deeper treating the cause of acne/ oily skin. In our clinic, I recommend doing a combination of lasers and facials to help rejuvenate your skin from within.
