Who is NOT a good candidate?
Those wanting a smaller nose, major tip support, significant deviation correction, functional airway changes, or permanent results. Also avoid if pregnant, breastfeeding, acutely ill, or with active skin infection.
What are the serious risks?
Vascular occlusion (blocked blood flow) and, very rarely, vision loss if filler enters vessels connected to the ophthalmic artery. Prompt recognition and treatment protocols are critical.
How do providers reduce risk?
Use of hyaluronic-acid fillers, micro-aliquots with low injection pressure, careful plane selection, frequent aspiration checks (as appropriate), cannula use in certain zones, and optional ultrasound-guided mapping; plus having hyaluronidase on hand.
Can the results be dissolved if I don’t like them?
Yes, HA fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Non-HA fillers cannot be reliably reversed.
How long do results last?
Typical duration is 9–18 months with HA, varying by product, placement, metabolism, and aftercare. Some patients metabolize faster or slower.
Can I wear glasses or sunglasses after?
Avoid pressure from frames on recently treated areas for 3–7 days (or per provider guidance). Consider tape-suspending frames or using contacts temporarily.
Can non-surgical rhinoplasty make my nose smaller?
No. Filler adds volume. It can visually straighten or lift, making the nose look more refined, but it cannot reduce size.
What if I’ve had a previous surgical rhinoplasty?
It’s possible, but scar tissue and altered blood supply increase complexity and risk. Choose an experienced injector; ultrasound guidance may be recommended.
