Is Liquid Rhinoplasty Real? Discover the Exciting Truth!

Yes, it’s real!

If someone is not yet prepared for the commitment of a surgical rhinoplasty, a liquid rhinoplasty, or non-surgical rhinoplasty, might be a great option. Many people desire changes to their nose but are scared of changing their face permanently. This is a very normal feeling but there are still options!

A liquid rhinoplasty involves using injectable filler products into the nose to ultimately change the appearance of the nose. When filler is injected anywhere in the face, it must be injected into the correct layer of tissue in order to avoid migration or complication. When regarding the nose, filler must be injection very specifically to ensure problems do not arise. Filler is typically injected in the superficial fatty layer of the nose or the deep fatty layer of the nose directly above the perichondrium. Injecting somewhere between these layers can be dangerous and could potentially cause vascular occlusion, which is the blocking of an artery. It is extremely important, that when getting a liquid rhinoplasty, it is performed by a professional who is educated on the anatomy of the nose.

Filler can be placed in different areas of the nose to create a liquid rhinoplasty. These areas include the bridge and tip of the nose. Typically a thicker, less malleable, filler is used and can be built on top of itself to create shape. Typically the filler is injected to decrease the appearance of a dorsal hump and droopy nasal tip.

However, unlike rhinoplasty, filler cannot take away any strength from the nose but rather fills in areas of the nose to form the illusion of a different shape. Additionally, injecting too much filler in the nose can cause migration the sides of the nose and between the eyebrows, causing the nose to suddenly look very wide. Because of this, it is important that your injector is careful that the filler does not make the nose look larger, which can often happen.

Although a liquid rhinoplasty is a great option for many, it does not last forever, being that the filler used is dissolvable by the body’s metabolic systems. Typically dissolvable nose filler lasts about a year before dissolving, sometimes less or more depending on a person’s anatomy and metabolism. Because of this, in order to maintain the look of a liquid rhinoplasty, the procedure needs to be redone when the filler dissolves.

Some providers use non-dissolvable fillers, like liquid silicone, for a liquid nose job. This is extremely dangerous and frowned upon because it can cause many complications. Additionally, this is typically not reversible and the foreign substance will remain in your nose forever. Although this sounds appealing, it can be very dangerous and should be avoided.

Here at Beverly Hills Rhinoplasty Center, expert closed rhinoplasty surgeon Dr. Deepak Dugar, is very skilled in liquid rhinoplasties. Dr. Dugar is known for his conservative approach to both closed rhinoplasty and liquid rhinoplasty, keeping a natural look to the nose. Dr. Dugar highly recommends that if you are considering getting a liquid rhinoplasty, to get the procedure done by a rhinoplasty surgeon like himself. As compared to a general injector, a rhinoplasty surgeon has a deep understanding of the nasal anatomy and ensures that the liquid rhinoplasty is performed properly and efficiently.
